The 2016-2021 Honda Civic is a little more complicated to modify because of the many many variations. We have the coupe, the sedan and the hatchback, as well as the Civic Si, which also has an active damper system, aka ADS by Honda. Which allows you to adjust from comfort, sport and race modes.

We are going to go over 3 different setups.

Lowering Springs: The most simplistic suspension mod

Performance Shocks: An add-on to lowering springs. Always a good choice to add this to your suspension when combined with a lowering spring.

Coilovers: An all in one system that has a paired and designed for shock and spring combo, which also has adjstable ride height and generally most come with adjustable dampening so you can go from soft to stiff. However with the Si ADS you will have to disable and omit that system.


Lowering Springs

Here we go over all the lowering springs for the 10th gen civic, what fits what model and give you an overall run down of each Popular Spring on the market. Lowering springs are a budget suspension mod, which are great at lowering the ride height, stiffening the suspension, but generally wont compare well to a coilovers full complete design. However on the Si model in which you will want to retain ADS, in that case a spring is a good option. We will begin by going over each brand and their specific attributes.

Oem+ Lowering Spring (moderate drop): In this section we go over lowering springs that offer moderate drops in ride height, these pair well with the stock shock setup, allow a slight drop, generally a slight increase in stiffness and performance while also slightly lowering center of gravity. While also not upsetting the balance of the stock shocks damper and designed ride height and suspension travel.


Eibach Pro-Kit 2016-2021 Civic Lowering Spring: The Eibach Pro-Kit is one of the most popular lowering springs for the 10th Gen Civic and they have a few models depending on which civic you own, which we do like to see. Each models lowering rate is about right under 1inch, with the type-r being slightly less as it is already a tad bit lower stock. Eibach uses a high toughness spring steel. But doesnt readily explain to much tech behind their springs.

Pros & Cons: The most obvious pro for the eibach is the name, as well the fact that they make 3 seperate models for each level of Civic, from base, to Si to Type-R. The con is price, but you get what you pay for.

Tein H-Tech 2016-2021 Honda Civic : Tein has built this spring to work with all models except the Type-R, they also have the spring rate and ride heights listed. This spring is a japense made spring and Tein has been synonymous with Honda Suspension Modifying for literally decades. Nothing like a Japanese Based car and a Japanesed Based spring going Hand in Hand. The springs are constructed using Chrome Vanadium (SAE9254V)

Pros & Cons: The pros are Tein is an excellent brand, thats Japanese Base and has always taken their Honda vehicle applications very serious, the brand has continually been highly reccomended in the forums and groups for the 10th gen civic and the price is moderately well set. Cons we would like to see a Type-R model, however you still could run these as all springs fit top to bottom, but they wouldnt be exactly designed for it, like the Eibach Does.

H&R Sport 2016-2021 Honda Civic Lower Springs: The German Based H&R is another bread and butter brand in the Honda world for lowering springs, these progressive rate springs are meant to be a moderate drop and they are H&R's best selling spring. H&R is another brand who also makes 3 seperate springs, one for the non-si, one for the Si and one for the Type-R.

Pros & Cons: As you can see the drop on the H&R is a little higher than most as well they go for a more front drop, which we do appreciate. Pricing on the H&R is however the highest of all the springs on this review.

WhiteLine 2016-2021 Honda Civic Lowering Springs: We really like the whiteline spring, due to its very moderate drop and the fact that it works for all models, from the si, to the type-r to the base. These are a fan favorite for people who want to modify the stock spring but retain the stock shock and the rates are pretty good as well. 

Pros & Cons: Moderate drop, everything you could need, well reccomended, springs work for all Civics, which could be a bit of a stretch due to multiple different platforms, but overall everyone wants the same ride regardless and the drop is small so its perfect for those going for just a little.
